Location: Bristol area (it is anticipated that this will be a home based role after the initial induction, but the applicant will need to be local to Mud & Bloom).

Mud & Bloom is a monthly subscription box for 3-8 year old’s delivering seasonal nature crafts and gardening activities. Each box includes everything needed for four craft and planting activities - aimed at getting children more engaged and connected with nature.

We try and ensure our products are environmentally friendly where possible, using organic seeds and compost pellets and natural craft materials, all our packaging is recyclable.

As Mud & Bloom grows we are seeking a conscientious, customer-focussed administrator to deal with subscription enquiries and to help new subscribers and their children connect fully with Mud & Bloom quickly as they subscribe. You will need to be highly personable, both on the phone and in writing, computer literate and conscientious about providing a good service to our subscribers. It is also important that you share the aims and values of Mud & Bloom.

This is a part time role which is flexible enough to be fitted around work, parenting responsibilities or study but which, because it is customer facing, nonetheless requires a commitment to working a regular hour each day (Monday-Friday excluding bank holidays, with holidays agreed in advance).

Job Description


Answering email enquiries from new, existing and potential subscribers  

Answering standard enquiries promptly and referring more complex ones quickly as necessary.

Entering changes to subscribers’ details on the database as necessary.

Three times a week

Address, seal and post boxes to new subscribers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, filling in gift tags and visiting a post office to weigh items if necessary.

Confirming dispatch of boxes to subscribers via database as necessary.

Ensuring an adequate stock of current and previous months’ boxes is maintained.

On an ad hoc basis

Assisting with the procurement of materials for the boxes

Inputting invoices into the online accounting system

Assisting with marketing work

Assisting with any other tasks as may be reasonably requested


Person Specification


Customer service knowledge and skills

Experience in a customer-facing role

Excellent verbal communication skills and written English

Demonstrable ability to learn new IT packages and databases

Commitment to the aims and values of Mud and Bloom


Experience with databases and mail merge

Knowledge and interest in gardening

Experience in early years education

Experience of using social media for marketing


Access to your own computer and phone

Good internet connection

Easy access to a local post office
